確実性の副詞
確実性の副詞は、行動や出来事に対して私達がどれくらい確実だと感じるかを表現します。確実性の副詞は、主動詞の前に来ますが、主動詞が 'to be'の場合は、確実性の副詞は動詞の後に来ます。certainly, definitely, probably, undoubtedly, surely

- He definitely left the house this morning.
- He surely won't forget.
- He is probably in the park.
- He is certainly a smart man.
助動詞がある場合、確実性の副詞は助動詞と主動詞の間に来ます。
例
- He has certainly forgotten the meeting.
- He will probably remember tomorrow.
- He is definitely running late.
確実性の副詞は、文の最初に置かれる場合もあります。
例
- Undoubtedly, Winston Churchill was a great politician.
- Certainly, I will be there.
- Probably, he has forgotten the meeting.
確実性の副詞 surelyが文の最初に置かれる場合、話し手が何かを真実だと思うが、それに対して確認を求めていることを意味します。

- Surely you've got a bicycle.
- Surely you're not going to wear that to the party.
